ALL - AROUND ATHLETE: ERIC SWINNEY

B2C: In your opinion, how has your team been performing this year?

Swinney: We have been doing good, but we have to work harder to be champions.  The loss we had to the Hawks was not our best performance. If we had played our type of basketball that game would have had a different outcome.

B2C: Last time we talked, you where playing in the Clayton County championship game (football).  You had a great season even though your team came up short in the championship game.  Now I see you on the basketball court and you are dominating.  What is the biggest difference between the two sports?

Swinney: It is very tiring, but it has been fun, since this is my first year playing basketball I have just tried to take my approach from the field and bring it over to the court.

B2C: What approach is that?

Swinney: Well, when I am on the field I can be ultra aggressive but when I am on the court I can keep the aggressiveness but I have to be smarter about how I approach the game.

B2C: How is it playing for Coach Nash?

Swinney: Coach Nash (laughing)…he is a good coach.  I like that he wants to bring out the best in us.  He knows how to congratulate us when we do good and he also knows how to discipline us when we are not doing what we are supposed to do.

B2C: I know you are into music, so tell me what do you listen to before the game starts?

Swinney: Before games I like to listen to Kanye West “Go Hard” and Lil Wayne “Im Me”.  Those are two of my favorite songs.  After I listen to those songs I am ready to play.

B2C: Do you play video games?

Swinney: To be honest I am not a real big fan of playing video games.  Instead of that, I like to play football or basketball, I don’t like to sit around the house to much.

B2C: Who is your favorite football and basketball player?

Swinney: My favorite player is Troy Palomolu for the Steelers.

B2C: He is one of my favorite players as well.  Were you cheering for the Steelers in the Super Bowl?

Swinney: I really wasn’t going for anybody in the Super Bowl, I just wanted to see a good game.  Plus the Falcons lost earlier and they are my favorite team.

B2C: So what about basketball?

Swinney: It has to be Lebron James.

B2C: Why Lebron?

Swinney: Have you seen him play!

B2C: Yeah you’ve got a great point.

B2C: How do you feel about the rest of the season?

Swinney: I think we have a great chance to win the championship.

B2C: Now what if you get the championship and the team that beat your team earlier this season (Clayton County Hawks) are there waiting to play you guys?

Swinney: The Hawks (laughing), just watch!
