I remember one hot day in the spring we were filming in Augusta for the Georgia Parks and Rec State Championship. When I say it was hot, I mean HOT! I ran into a team called Ben Hill. They had an amazing team; at the end of the day their runners earned multiple state championships and state records. Later on in the evening me and one of the coaches from Ben Hill’s track team sat and talked about his runners. That is when he told me about the twins. Elliot and Evan Berry, I saw them on the track and they had won multiple state championships and national championships in track but the coach also told me that they were very good football players as well. I believed him but it was hard for me to see how the straight line speed would transfer in to the physical world of football. So as we do with all players we kept the twins on the radar and what we saw next was something straight out of the movies. These two set the MAYFL on fire but there was something special about Evan that you could see when he steeped on the field as if he knew he was going to take over the game. Just like when his twin brother does it on the track when he set the national record in the 200 or just like his older brother Eric Berry who has dominated the SEC with his play at safety which will make him a top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Evan Berry was a sight to see this year, when he was given a little bit of daylight there was no looking back. He also was at his best in big games. Early in the season when his team was down to the mighty Central Dekalb jaguars 24-7 Evan led a charge that hasn’t been matched yet this year. In a B2C Instant Classic, Evan had over 150 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the second half to give the Flames the victory over the Jaguars. The kid that caused a media uprising earlier this year when he announced that he signed with Tennessee Volunteers has know made headlines again. Congratulations to Evan Berry the B2C Player of the Year for the 14U Division.
